Evaluation (Unit 2)

Unit 2 Evaluation

When I first entered the course I had certain skills. I had basic editing skills on Photoshop and Picnik (editing website) . I also had basic knowledge of cameras and video cameras. I mostly new how to use them as it a bit of common knowledge i needed. I knew a few of the basic shortcuts for apple Photoshop. I was defiantly not very confident using the different tools provided on photoshop. However now my skills have improved and I know more about using Photoshop than when i first entered the course even though i still have more to learn about photoshop i am willing to learn as photoshop is such a good way to edit photos etc. Also my skills on setting up a tripod and loading a tape and the basic conventions of opening sequences have improved through out the course. Also when I entered the course I had no knowledge of using a scanner and putting it up onto my Blogger. I had to get help to do this and now i know how to do this.

When I first started media didn't organise my folders and because of this i lost certain work. I also didn't and name them properly so it made it a lot harder for myself to find the work i needed to because I didn’t know what any of the files were called so I had to waste a lot of valuable time opening them all to check what they were. I also realised that I used to save my work to the desktop which also wasted time because if i had to use a different computer I didn’t have any of my work and this made it very difficult for me.

In my media work I try to take as much care as I can by checking all spellings, then cropping my photos, also in my treatment I kept checking my grammar for example, using punctuation, using capital letters to make it all look more professional however i also used a wide range of vocabulary to suit the professional look of my treatment.

In my media work have tried to be as creative as I can and to put my full effort into my work in media. Since the start of the course I think my creativity has improved which has helped me to come up with better ideas with more thought into them throughout my work.I could defiantly still improve on my work by using my more creative side. As we go futher through the course my creative side has shown a lot more.

I think that I have a lot of skills that I could improve a lot more however there are some areas on the course that I struggle with such as sometimes using photoshop as i don't know how everything works on there but i normally ask then learn what they are. When im learning where the buttons and settings are i get confused as it's a lot different to any other editing pages i have used before. The set out for the page is completely different to. Another thing is i can't remember all the shortcuts on the mac and I sometimes need to ask for help on how to do something on the mac or on photoshop.I now name all my files so they don't get lost and i don't know where they are. Another thing I could improve is my page layout on my work and I think I should start to make my work look more presentable and professional. I will focus on this in my next unit.

The Results For My Questionnaire.

My results of the questionnaire so that the cover of the magazine attracts them to the magazine and it effects what they think about the whole magazine before they read it or buy it. 70% of the people we asked who said they buy magazines the other 20% said they sometimes buy magazines and the other 10% said they don't buy magazines. This may be because of the cover of the magazine. The age that most people who buy magazines are 11-20 year olds. I am going to make a magazine that suits this age group. The price is between £2.00 - £2.50. The questionnaire shows that more females buys magazine that males. I want to make my magazine to fit both sex's. My magazine has plenty of colour and will attract a lot of attention. I want my magazine to be unique and it will be as i have done this questionnaire to make sure my magazine is how people expect a magazine to be but also to make a change in the magazine industry. My magazine will be released every 1st of each month. The reason is that if 1 was released every week not as many people would buy it as it would be out so often people would get bored of different magazines coming out. By the time they have been out for a month people can look forward to the next magazine to be out. Looking at my questionnaire i am going to create a magazine that fits all of these things that people want in a childrens magazine.
